Island City is a 2015 Indian drama film written and directed by Ruchika Oberoi. The movie premiered at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival, where Oberoi won the FEDORA prize for Best Young Director.

Island City Plot -

The film consists of three comic-dramatic stories set in Mumbai. The first story revolves around a diligent office worker, Suyash Chaturvedi, who wins the Fun Committee Award', forcing him to leave his comfort zone and participate in prescribed fun activities. The second story centers on a family obsessed with a TV soap opera, while the third story follows Aarti, a woman feeling disconnected and numb in her repetitive existence.

Suyash Chaturvedi (Vinay Pathak) -

 A middle-aged man who wins the office "Fun Committee Award," entitling him to a day full of fun. However, he is reluctant to leave the safety of his cubicle and faces challenges in embracing the prescribed fun activities.

Anil's Family -

Anil, a domineering father on life support, has banned television in his household. Seeking some relief, his family decides to buy a TV and starts watching a popular soap opera, which brings a new dynamic to their lives.

Aarti (Tannishtha Chatterjee) -

 Aarti leads a repetitive and mechanical life, feeling disconnected and numb. Her existence takes a turn when she receives an intimate letter, sparking a change in her life.
